Balston, behind the wheel of his Porsche 911 Turbo, lowered the road-going production unlimited class mark by 0.01 seconds on his penultimate run, to 12.09s, while Ward smashed the existing record in the post historic bike over 500 cc class.

Ward, who had an early scare with a mid-run wobble on his Suzuki GS1000 cc, clocked 12.45s to add to the 501-750 cc, 751-1000 cc and unlimited bike class records that he already holds.

The largest class of the day – the 751-1000 cc bikes – was won by Guernseyman Anthony Poynder [10.90s], while Clive Huelin won the ‘Run What you Brung’ category with a time of 11.66s.

Other class winners included Alan Baudin, Oliver Holmes, Len Amy and Paul Machon.

The JMC & LCC thanked Paramedic Jason Hamon and Normandy Rescue, the residents and Parish of St Brelade and sponsors Valla Ltd.
