British and Irish Lions could receive Covid jabs in Jersey

The UK Government offered the playing squad special dispensation to jump the queue for their first injections and the Government of Jersey are believed to be considering logistics with regards to second doses.

The vast majority of the team received the Pfizer jab at a vaccination centre in London on Wednesday in what head coach Warren Gatland described as a ‘show of unity’. It is hoped the injections will reduce the risk to players, staff and the tour itself, given the devastating impact one positive case could have on their three-Test series in South Africa.

Jersey may be the only option for the squad’s second jabs as they are in the Island from 13-24 June, play Japan in a friendly in Edinburgh on 26 June and then depart almost immediately for Johannesburg.
