Bulls look for strong finish to the season

GARY FREEMAN praised the attitude and commitment of his players ahead of Jersey Bulls’ last midweek away day of the season.

Tonight they travel to Colliers Wood United, their ninth midweek trip since the new year.

With lunchtime flights out and overnight stays, Freeman and his team have to juggle work commitments around the Bulls season. By contrast, all home games have been played on a Saturday afternoon.

‘I’ve got nothing but praise for the commitment they show with all these away games and having to be flexible with their work,’ said the Bulls manager.

‘It’s a challenge. We’ve been away pretty much every week since the end of January and the players have to take time off work, but that’s what we signed up to.’

With hopes of promotion from the Combined Counties Premier Division South all but gone, Freeman is keen to get all his players involved as much as possible in their final three games, with an away trip to leaders Raynes Park Vale on Saturday before the final game of the season at home to Redhill the week after.

‘We’re disappointed with where we are but we want to finish off as strong as possible,’ said Freeman.

‘The main priority is to win these games. We’ve got to stick together, manage the squad and get everyone involved. The players have been committed all season and we want them all to feel part of it.’

Luke Campbell and Kamen Nafkha are unavailable due to work commitments, but Ben Le Rougetel and Miguel Carvalho, back from trials with Sheffield Wednesday, join the squad against a side with a decent home record.

Freeman added: ‘We drew there last year. They’ve got a lot of pace in wide areas and are a decent team.’

Jersey Bulls squad: Euan Van Der Vliet, Frank Tobin, Jay Giles, James Querée, Sammy Sutcliffe, Ben Le Rougetel, Joe Kilshaw, Adam Trotter, Luke Watson, Jack Boyle, Miguel Carvalho, Francis Lekimamati, Sammy Henia-Kamau, Fraser Barlow, Lorne Bickley.
