A New Zealand cricket fan is celebrating winning 50,000 NZ dollars (£26,000) after taking a fantastic catch in the one-day international between the Black Caps and England in Mount Maunganui.

The fan caught the ball after England’s Jos Buttler had scored a six and picked up the bumper prize into the bargain.

Buttler was on his way to an unbeaten 36 when he pulled a ball from Tim Southee to clear fine leg and the spectator did the rest to scoop the prize in the Tui Catch A Million campaign, where fans can claim the money by taking a one-handed catch when a batsman hits a six.

It was a rare moment of enjoyment for the home crowd as England cruised to a six-wicket win to level the series at 1-1.
