Johanna Konta is out of the BNP Paribas Open after Marketa Vondrousova beat her in straight sets.
Konta lost the first set 7-6 (7/5) before losing the second set 6-4 to the 18-year-old.

Muguruza had raced to a 3-0 lead in the second set and looked on course to make it through to the third-round at Indian Wells, but the 22-year-old fought back to win in two hours 11 minutes.

Meanwhile, ninth-seed Petra Kvitova toiled for more than three hours as she beat Yulia Putintseva 6-7 (7/4) 7-6 (7/3) 6-4.
The Czech struggled on serve, racking up 18 double faults in the second-round match, but eventually saw off her Kazakh opponent to set up a clash with American Amanda Anisimova who beat 23 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-4 6-1.

Elise Mertens was beaten 4-6 6-3 6-3 by China’s Qiang Wang.
Top seed Simona Halep made short work of her Czech opponent Kristyna Pliskova in a 6-4 6-4 win in one hour 15 minutes.
