Warriors double series lead over Spurs after second-half surge

Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors pulled off a second-half rally to see off the San Antonio Spurs 116-101 and double their play-off advantage.

The defending champions now lead their Western Conference first-round series 2-0 after a game that saw Kevin Durant score 32 points, take six rebounds and make six assists.

Thompson added 31 points – 16 in the fourth quarter – and five assists as Golden State played their last home crowd match-up before the best-of-seven series moves to San Antonio.

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 34 and took 12 rebounds for the Spurs, while Patty Mills registered 21.

Earlier Dwyane Wade scored a season-high 28 points and the Miami Heat levelled up their Eastern Conference play-off series by beating the Philadelphia 76ers 113-103.

The defeat ended Philadelphia’s 17-game winning streak that stretched all the back into the regular season as far as March 13.

Scoring 15 of his points in the second quarter, Wade later delivered a magnificent 16-foot fadeaway to lift the Heat away from a rallying 76ers as the clock wound down.

With 3,898 play-off points Wade is now 10th on the NBA all-time table after overtaking Larry Bird.
