Robert Lewandowski has told Bayern Munich chiefs that he wants to leave the club this summer for a new challenge, his agent has claimed.

The Poland striker, who has won the Bundesliga title in each of his four seasons at Bayern since he joined from Borussia Dortmund, has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Paris St Germain and Real Madrid.

His agent Pini Zahavi was quoted as telling Sport Bild: “Robert feels that he needs a change and a new challenge in his career. Those in charge at Bayern are aware of this.”

Lewandowski has another three years left on his contract.

The 29-year-old, who is currently preparing for the World Cup, has scored more than 40 goals in all competitions in each of the last three seasons. He was the top scorer in the Bundesliga last term with 29 goals in 30 games. He will not be short of suitors.

Zahavi said: “Robert’s motives are not money or a specific club as almost all the top clubs would like to have the best striker in the world in their ranks.

“Every one of the Bayern leadership had great careers themselves. They should understand his situation.”
