White Ferns avert whitewash with win at Leicester

England wasted a great start to lose the third one-day international against New Zealand by four wickets.

Openers Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont were largely untroubled as they put on 104 without loss after England won the toss and elected to bat at Leicester.

However, Beaumont’s departure for 53 triggered a collapse and the hosts lost all their wickets for just another 115 runs as they were bowled out for 219.

Sophie Devine was unbeaten on 117 as she led New Zealand’s reply and she hit Katherine Brunt for six to complete victory with more than five overs remaining.

It gave the White Ferns a consolation win in a series that England had already won.
