Claudio Bravo says ‘life will go on’ amid rumours he’s suffered a serious injury

Manchester City’s second-choice goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has added substance to rumours that he may have suffered a serious injury in training.

There were claims in the Spanish media on Monday evening that the Chile international had sustained Achilles tendon damage that could mean a lengthy spell out.

A tweet from the 35-year-old soon after then suggested that the player did indeed have a problem.

Bravo tweeted: “No matter what happens, or how bad it looks today, life will go on, and tomorrow will certainly be better.”

There has been no confirmation from City. The club have been contacted for comment.

An injury to Bravo would leave manager Pep Guardiola without experienced back-up to first-choice keeper Ederson.

Daniel Grimshaw, 20, is the only other keeper in the first-team squad but he has not yet made a senior appearance.

Former City and England number one Joe Hart recently joined Burnley on a permanent deal after spending the past two seasons out on loan while England Under-21s goalkeeper Angus Gunn was sold to Southampton.

Another goalkeeper, 19-year-old Montenegrin Arijanet Muric, has been loaned out to Dutch side NAC Breda.

Bravo’s injury comes a week after playmaker Kevin De Bruyne was also injured in a training session, suffering knee ligament damage that will rule him out for three months.

Bravo ousted Hart when he joined City from Barcelona in 2016 but lost his place to Ederson after an indifferent first season. He has since been mostly restricted to domestic cup appearances.

He last played in City’s victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield earlier this month and has been on the bench for the champions’ first two Premier League games of the season.
