Krzysztof Kulik, a Polish national, was caught by Customs officers transporting 20 kg of cannabis resin in the boot of a black BMW after arriving at the Elizabeth Terminal on the ferry from Poole on the afternoon of 17 July 2017. The drugs had a street value of between £300,000 and £400,000.

The discovery was made after Kulik, who pleaded guilty to importation, was stopped and questioned by officials about his motives for coming to the Island.

He claimed that he wanted to work in Jersey and had interviews arranged with several restaurants. He was, however, unable to name any of them.

Kulik was sentenced to four years and four months in prison.
