Northern Storage is located to the south of Rue de la Mare des Prés in Mont Mado, above Bonne Nuit, and comprises a former agricultural shed and outside areas. On Thursday, the Planning Applications Panel, chaired by Deputy Russell Labey, considered a proposal to formalise the outside areas for storing small fishing and leisure boats and vehicles. Deputy Labey, as well as panel members Deputies Jeremy Maçon, Graham Truscott and Scott Wickenden, visited the site earlier in the week.
St John Constable Chris Taylor spoke in favour of the application.
‘The close proximity to Bonne Nuit Harbour is a huge advantage as it will minimise travel as most of the boats use the harbour,’ he said. ‘That is why the parish has been supportive of an application of this nature.’
The panel unanimously approved the proposal, subject to the condition that boats and vehicles be parked in specific areas which would also be screened from neighbouring properties by hedging.
Other conditions prohibit large heavy goods vehicles from being parked on the site and repair work being undertaken outside.
